Very pleased to find a wonderful piece of art on actual St Ann's. The Huntingdon Street Bus Station, Nottingham, just opposite where I lived in the late 1960s at the Britannia Inn. It was painted by John Kenneth Long, who at the time was teaching at the Nottingham School of Art.
This is the fantastic work of specialist Railway artist Philip D Hawkins. This is the view heading North out of the old Nottingham Victoria Station with Huntingdon Street up on the right and Woodborough Road crossing above the tunnel.
Merry Christmas to all the members of this wonderful St Ann's Heritage Group and especially to the hard working admins and organisers who enable us all to learn more about our common past and rekindle that fine community spirit that was so part of the area prior to the demolition of the 1970s. I set myself a small project to find art from around the UK which reflected the life of living in working class Victorian terrace areas of England such as St Ann's in Nottingham. I have tried to include the details of the artists and paintings where possible in the hope that it may encourage people to explore more for themselves about how wonderful art can be in providing insight and reflection on all walks and periods of life. Kindest Regards Steve. Christmas 2016 (Beq Steve Clark)
